Lakeland College was in need of an updated visual identity that would help reinforce the notion that Lakeland offers an university-caliber college education.
The re-brand led to this symbol of excellence, which reinforces the academic credibility of Lakeland College, while bringing together both Lloydminister and Vermillion in a simple yet distinguished monogram. The powerful L demonstrates the esteem in which Lakeland College and the quality of its programs are held.
The L stands independently as a modern symbol of the school, while the word Lakeland is set in a timeless contemporary serif; thus honoring the traditional values the college upholds while looking toward the bright future Lakeland has in store.
Acknowledging its prairie roots and tight knit community, the reference to grain is displayed through the use of a gold sash, which historically is indicative of success, achievement academically, and the enrichment of the mind. This diagonally wrapped sash pays tribute to traditional heraldic crests, in which diagonal lines represent defense. This correlates directly to the resilient past of vermillion and the strength and stability of Lakeland's Emergency Training Center.
